TRADE: Silvertips acquire Caden Brown from Cougars
EVERETT, Wash. — The Everett Silvertips have swung a trade with the Prince George Cougars, acquiring right-winger Caden Brown (’05) in exchange for left-winger Oren Shtrom (’04), a 2024 second-round pick and a 2026 fifth-round pick.
“We’re excited to add a player of Caden’s skill level to our program,” commented Silvertips general manager/head coach Dennis Williams. “His work ethic and his commitment to the game will fit great with our team. We feel Caden can contribute not only offensively, but dependably away from the puck as well. We look forward to working with him in camp and helping him develop into a professional player.”
Brown, a Prince George, B.C. native, posted 18 goals with 15 assists in 66 regular season contests in 2022-23. He added three goals and four assists in 10 postseason appearances, helping lead the Cougars to the second round of the WHL Playoffs for the first time since 2007.

The 5-foot-11, 190-pound Brown recorded six multi-point outings in the campaign, including three three-point nights. Of his 33 total points, five came on the powerplay.
Brown was originally selected 17th-overall in the 2020 WHL Draft by Prince George. He appeared in 67 games his rookie season in 2021-22, collecting seven goals and nine assists.
Shtrom departs the Silvertips after appearing in 17 games with Everett last season, logging two goals and five assists.
“We’d like to thank Oren for his commitment and contributions to our program,” Williams noted. “We wish him all the best going forward.”
