Silvertips Visit Providence Hospital
EVERETT – Everett Silvertips players took time to make an impact away from the rink on Tuesday morning, visiting patients and staff members at two different Providence Regional Medical Center campuses in Everett in conjunction with this week’s “Pink the Rink” events. One group of players visited the Colby Campus in north Everett, while the other went to the Pacific Campus closer to downtown.
Donning their specialty “Pink the Rink” jerseys that will be worn during both of this weekend’s home games and then auctioned off to help the cause, the Silvertips spent their morning visiting a number of different areas throughout both locations. They posed for photos, signed autographs, and often just stopped for a quick hello to help brighten the spirits of patients of all ages.
At the Colby Campus, the team chatted with patients at the Providence Regional Cancer Partnership, stopped by rooms on the inpatient oncology floor and greeted people in numerous areas of the Cymbaluk Medical Tower. Silvertips mascot Lincoln joined the players at the Pacific Campus to meet women at the Providence Comprehensive Breast Center, play with kids at the Children’s Center and visit other areas throughout the facility.
Tuesday’s visit also helped spread the word about our fourth annual “Pink the Rink”, which is a cooperative effort between the Silvertips, the Providence Regional Cancer Partnership, the Providence Comprehensive Breast Center and the Safeway Foundation to raise funds that provide free breast cancer screenings for local women without insurance or the means to pay. By aiding with early detection, the donations raised will help Providence fight breast cancer and ultimately save lives in Snohomish County and the surrounding areas.
