Silvertips Honored by Providence Foundation
EVERETT – The Everett Silvertips Hockey Club received a special honor last month as the Providence General Foundation presented us with the 2013 Budd Gould Tribute Award during the 27th annual Epicurean Affair fundraiser. General Manager Garry Davidson, Executive Vice President Zoran Rajcic and Director of Ticket Sales Kevin Danford were on hand to receive the award at Anthony’s HomePort Restaurant on the Everett waterfront.
The Budd Gould Tribute Award has been presented annually since 2011 to honor those who provide outstanding contributions to Providence Regional Medical Center and our local community. The Silvertips were recognized for our ongoing support of breast cancer screenings and programs through our annual “Pink the Rink” fundraising effort.
For each of the last four seasons, the Silvertips have hosted our “Pink the Rink” game to raise money that covers the cost of breast cancer screenings for local women without insurance or the means to pay. Through the support of our loyal fans, the Safeway Foundation and Providence Regional Medical Center, the event has helped the Silvertips generate over $225,000 in donations to the Providence General Foundation. Those funds contribute directly to the early detection of breast cancer in local women, which ultimately saves lives right here in our community.
“We are honored and proud to receive this award from the Providence General Foundation, but it’s our fans and all the supporters of ‘Pink the Rink’ who really deserve the recognition,” said Rajcic. “Without the overwhelming support of so many people in this community, we never could have produced such massive dollar amounts to help fight breast cancer locally. “
“We’d like to thank Providence for their partnership in making ‘Pink the Rink’ a smashing success, and a special thanks goes out to Safeway for helping us take it to another level in the last two years. Hopefully this cause continues to gain visibility and momentum as we try to raise even more money in the years to come.”
The Epicurean Affair is an annual event attended by over 200 guests each year, including civic, business and medical leaders from the northern Puget Sound region. This year’s affair raised more than $125,000 for the Providence Cancer Patient Assistance Fund. Each year, the Providence General Foundation partners with Anthony’s HomePort in Everett to host this exclusive evening featuring wonderful northwest food and wine. The namesake of the Tribute Award, Budd Gould, is the president and owner of Anthony’s restaurants and a longtime supporter of Providence Regional Medical Center Everett.
