BLAZERS DOWN ROCKETS – Dylan Willick scored a pair of goals to lead the Kamloops Blazers to a 5-2 win over the visiting Kelowna Rockets in Western Hockey League action on Friday night.
Brendan Ranford and Chase Schaber each notched a goal and an assist while Tim Bozon scored his third goal of the season for the Blazers (10-3-0-0), who earn their third straight win and their 10th victory of the season. Cole Cheveldave made 35 saves to post the win.
Tyrell Goulbourne and Madison Bowey – with his first WHL marker – scored for the Rockets (5-8-1-0), who went 1-for-8 on the power play in the contest. Adam Brown and Jordon Cooke combined for 29 saves in a losing cause.
GIANTS 4, COUGARS 2
Jordan Martinook scored three goals to lead the visiting Vancouver Giants to a 4-2 win over the Prince George Cougars on Friday.
Dalton Sward also scored for the Giants (8-6-0-1), who stretch their winning streak to four games, while Neil Manning picked up two assists in his season debut. Adam Morrison made 20 saves in the win.
Charles Inglis notched a goal and an assist while Cody Carlson scored his first of the season for the Cougars (3-11-0-1), who were without defenseman Martin Marincin as they drop their eighth straight decision. Drew Owsley made 23 saves in the defeat.
THUNDERBIRDS 4, ROYALS 3 S/O
Luke Lockhart scored the deciding goal in a shootout as the visiting Seattle Thunderbirds edged the Victoria Royals 4-3 on Friday.
Brad Deagle notched a goal and an assist while Connor Sanvido and Burke Gallimore also scored for the Thunderbirds (5-5-0-0), who scored three goals in a 3:15 span in the third period. Calvin Pickard made 34 saves through regulation and overtime, and denied three of four Royals shootout attempts to post the win.
Kevin Sundher scored twice and Tim Traber also counted for the Royals (8-7-0-1), who tied the game on Sundher’s second goal of the contest late in the third period but fell in the shootout for their second straight setback. Keith Hamilton made 29 saves in regulation, but wad beaten twice in the shootout to take the loss.
WARRIORS 8, WHEAT KINGS 4
Cody Beach scored twice and set up three more for a five-point effort to lead the visiting Moose Jaw Warriors to an 8-4 win over the Brandon Wheat Kings on Friday.
Justin Kirsch scored twice in his debut for the Warriors (8-5-1-0), who pick up their second win in a row, while Tanner Eberle, Quinton Howden and Sam Fioretti also scored. Luke Siemens made 36 saves to earn the win.
Mark Stone and Michael Ferland each tallied a goal and an assist while Darian Dziurzynski and Ryan Pulock also counted for the Wheat Kings (8-5-0-1), who trailed 4-1 after the opening period en route to the defeat. Brandon Anderson and Corbin Boes combined for 32 saves in the loss.
WINTERHAWKS 4, HURRICANES 1
Ty Rattie scored his 11th goal of the season to help the visiting Portland Winterhawks to a 4-1 triumph over the Lethbridge Hurricanes on Friday.
Lethbridge product Brad Ross had a goal and an assist while Taylor Peters and Brendan Leipsic also scored for the Winterhawks (8-6-1-1), who were 0-for-4 on the power play in the game. Mac Carruth made 30 stops to claim the victory.
Sam McKechnie scored the lone goal for the Hurricanes (2-12-0-1), who slump to their 12th consecutive setback. Liam Liston made 36 saves to take the loss.
PATS 4, OIL KINGS 1
Dominik Volek tallied a goal and an assist as the Regina Pats posted a 4-1 victory over the visiting Edmonton Oil Kings on Friday.
Chandler Stephenson, Andrew Rieder and Lane Scheidl also scored for the Pats (10-5-0-0), who converted two of four power play chances as they earn their 10th win of the season. Matt Hewitt turned in a 39-save performance to backstop the Pats to the victory.
Dylan Wruck – with his fourth of the season – had the lone goal for the Oil Kings (9-4-1-1), who remain tied for second place in the Central Division. Laurent Brossoit made 23 saves in a losing cause.
BRONCOS 3, TIGERS 2
Taylor Vause scored the go-ahead goal 17 seconds into the third period to lift the Swift Current Broncos to a 3-2 triumph over the visiting Medicine Hat Tigers on Friday.
Coda Gordon – with a goal and two assists – and Reece Scarlett also scored while Adam Lowry chipped in three assists for the Broncos (6-7-2-0), who converted two of six power play chances on Friday night. Jon Groenheyde made 33 saves to earn his fourth win of the season.
Trevor Cox scored his first WHL goals and Emerson Etem notched his 18th tally of the season for the Tigers (10-5-0-0), who held a 35-24 advantage in shots on goal. Kenny Cameron made 21 saves to take the loss.
SILVERTIPS 3, REBELS 2 S/O
Cody Fowlie scored the winning goal in a shootout to lift the visiting Everett Silvertips to a 3-2 victory over the Red Deer Rebels on Friday.
Kohl Bauml and Josh Winquist scored in regulation play for the Silvertips (4-9-0-2), who claim their second road win of the season. Kent Simpson turned in a valiant 52-save performance in regulation, and turned aside three of five Rebels’ shootout attempts to record the win.
John Persson and Josh Cowen scored for the Rebels (8-4-0-1), who suffer their second straight loss despite outshooting the visiting ‘Tips 54-29 in the contest. Bolton Pouliot turned aside 26 of 28 shots in regulation but was beaten three times in the shootout to take the loss.
