BC EDGES SASKATCHEWAN IN U-16 OPENER
Tyson Jost tallied a goal and an assist while Jake Kryski scored and set up two more to lead Team BC to a 5-4 victory over Team Saskatchewan in the opening game of the 2013 Western Canada U-16 Challenge Cup on Thursday night at Father David Bauer Arena in Calgary, AB.
Caleb Fantillo, Beck Malenstyn and Keyvan Mokhtari also scored for BC, who outshot Saskatchewan 38-26 in the contest as they open defence of their 2012 Gold medal with a victory. Brody Willms made 22 saves in the win.
Taylor Ross scored twice, including converting a second-period penalty shot, and added an assist for Saskatchewan, who also got goals from Drew Warkentine and Jordan Borstmayer. Declan Hobbs made 33 saves in a losing cause.
Team BC takes on Team Manitoba and Team Saskatchewan goes up against Team Alberta on Friday.
