WORLD JUNIORS // Fasko-Rudas to Represent Team Slovakia
EVERETT, Wash. – The Everett Silvertips (@WHLSilvertips) announced today that forward Martin Fasko-Rudas has been named to Team Slovakia for the upcoming 2020 IIHF World Junior Championships, Dec. 26 – Jan. 5 in Ostrava and Trinec, Czech Republic.
Fasko-Rudas will join Dustin Wolf (Team USA) to represent a pair of Silvertips chasing the gold medal in the tournament, last achieved by Silvertip representation in the 2018 tournament when goaltender Carter Hart, currently suiting up for the Philadelphia Flyers of the National Hockey League, was the winning goaltender in net when Team Canada captured the gold medal in Buffalo, N.Y.
Fasko-Rudas, 19, and Team Slovakia will compete in Group A for round robin competition and open the tournament on Dec. 27 against Kazakhstan at Werk Arena. This season, he has collected four goals and four assists in 17 games with the Silvertips and last year hit career highs in goals (15), assists (16), and points (31) in his second WHL campaign with Everett.
He has helped guide the Silvertips to a pair of U.S. Division titles and was a part of the Silvertips Western Conference title squad in 2017-18 when he earned five goals and three assists in 20 postseason games.
The native of Banska Bystrica, Slovakia earned Bronze Medal with the Slovakia U18 squad and suited up in four games with Slovakia at the 2017-18 Hlinka Gretzky Cup.
He has competed in 147 career games, all with the Silvertips, earning 54 points (25g-29a) and a +16 rating. For postseason career competition, he has collected 17 points (9g-8a) in 30 WHL Playoff games, along with a +11 rating and three game winning goals. He has five game winning goals in his WHL career, and earned a career high three game winning tallies in his 2017-18 rookie season.
