WEEKEND RECAP: Silvertips welcome over 5,500 fans for Local Heroes Night
EVERETT, Wash. — Over 5,500 Silvertips fans poured through the Angel of the Winds Arena doors on Sunday evening to help pay tribute to local first responders on Local Heroes Night.
The evening’s festivities featured a special pre-game ceremony, with local police and fire transport vehicles driving out to center ice as a ceremonial first puck was delivered via repelling members of South County Fire. First responders from around Snohomish County including police, fire and medical units were represented and honored throughout the evening. Joining first responders on the ice for the pre-game ceremonial puck drop was Ashton Wolfe, president and CEO of Wolfe Plumbing & Wolfe Fire Protection, the presenting sponsor of the evening.
With the funds raised for local first responders, the Silvertips have now proudly donated over $45,000 in their nine years hosting Local Heroes Night.
The Silvertips would go on to best the Seattle Thunderbirds 4-2, improving to 30-7-4 on the season and 16-2-2 at home. Everett welcomed over 5,000 fans for both home games last weekend, including 5,117 on Saturday for a matchup with the Prince George Cougars.
This weekend will feature three home contests for the Everett Silvertips, including a Friday night Hockey Happy Hour against the Victoria Royals, Saturday night Mini-Zamboni Giveaway presented by Seatown, and Sunday night Great Small Dog Race presented by Sam’s Cats and Dogs Naturally.
