TIPS WIN: Commander In Chief Tonight
EVERETT, Wash. – Jake Christiansen, Patrick Bajkov, Sean Richards, and Matt Fonteyne each collected multi point games while Carter Hart made 34 saves to lift the Everett Silvertips to a 4-1 win over the Spokane Chiefs before 4,381 fans at XFinity Arena.
With the Tips’ win tonight, they have evened the season series at 1-1-0-0.
Everett kicked off the scoring at 10:21 of the first with a top shelf goal from Sean Richards thanks to a beautiful cross ice pass from Patrick Bajkov. Both teams traded power play opportunities in the first period but did not capitalize. Spokane lead the shot count with 11 versus Everett’s 8. Everett ended the period with 1-0 lead.
Everett drew a hooking penalty 34 seconds into the second period which lead to a power play goal at 1:53 by Matt Fonteyne from the left circle with assists going to Wyatt Wylie and and Jake Christiansen. Before the goal was done being called by the announcers, Spokane cut the lead in half with a goal from Fafrak at 2:14 making the score 2-1.
Everett had multiple power play opportunities throughout the second and were able to capitalize on one at 18:15 with a slapshot from Jake Christiansen that went five hole on the Spokane netminder, making it 3-1 Everett. The goal was in large part thanks to a beautiful cross ice pass by Bryce Kindopp and Riley Sutter getting the play started.
Everett led the shot count for the second with 10 versus Spokane’s five.
The third period saw multiple penalties per each team but neither will able to capitalize on the power play opportunities. Spokane pulled their netminder with less than 3 minutes left in the game and Patrick Bajkov sealed the deal with an empty netter at 17:52, thanks to help from Wylie and Richards.
Spokane dominated shots in the third with 19 versus Everett’s 11. Everett dominates their foes with a 4-1 win.
Carter Hart’s counterpart, Dawson Weatherill, made 25 saves.
The Silvertips will return with a game tomorrow versus Vancouver on November 25 at 7:05 PM PT (Fox Sports 1380 / WHL Live).
