Tips To Mourn Humboldt Broncos with Winterhawks, Assist in Fundraising Efforts at Game 2
EVERETT, Wash. – The Everett Silvertips (@WHLSilvertips) will mourn the loss of loved ones and families associated with the Humboldt Broncos of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League with a moment of silence and assist with fundraising opportunities tonight at Angel of the Winds Arena for Game 2 of the second round of the WHL Playoffs, starting at 7:05 p.m. when the Silvertips host the Portland Winterhawks.
“On behalf of the Everett Silvertips organization, our deepest sympathies go out to the Humboldt Broncos players, staff, families, friends, and community of Humboldt, Saskatchewan,” said Silvertips general manager Garry Davidson. “We express sympathy and share the pain of those affected by last night’s tragedy.”
“We express our most genuine thoughts and prayers during this extremely difficult time. We also feel compelled to help those in need, and feel it’s appropriate to show our support tonight in many different ways.”
In memory of 15 individuals from the Humboldt Broncos who lost their lives, and in honor of their families, and the community following a bus collision on Friday in Saskatchewan, the Silvertips will pay tribute during pregame ceremonies by observing with a moment of silence. Prior to the singing of the Star Spangled Banner for the postseason contest between two U.S. Division teams, the Silvertips will also host an instrumental version of Canada’s national anthem, “O Canada.”
The Silvertips will also participate with the Winterhawks in a completely unified stance along the bluelines during the pregame lineup introductions and anthems, in support of the Broncos and families.
The Silvertips also encourage fans in attendance to support fundraising for families and associates of the Broncos with several opportunities during Game 2:
- Earnings from the 50/50 raffle drawing at Game 2, hosted by the Everett Youth Hockey Booster Club (EYHBC)
- Silent auction: authentic, game worn Carter Hart Team Canada jersey from the World Junior Championships
All proceeds from the 50/50 raffle drawing and Carter Hart jersey silent auction will be donated to the Humboldt Broncos and their families.
The winning bid for the Carter Hart autographed jersey will be 100% tax deductible, made available through EYHBC.
Further silent auction items will be announced later next week.
