Silvertips acquire Hayden Smith in trade with Lethbridge Hurricanes
EVERETT, Wash. — The Everett Silvertips have acquired left winger Hayden Smith from the Lethbridge Hurricanes in exchange for a 2027 8th-round pick in the WHL Draft.
Smith, an ’04-born Chetwynd, B.C. native, appeared in all 68 games last season with the Hurricanes logging 14 goals with seven assists. The 6-foot, 195-pound forward was originally drafted by the Saskatoon Blades 24th-overall in the 2019 Draft. He has skated in 143 career games, posting 16 goals with 12 assists with 35 penalty minutes.
“We’re excited to welcome Hayden to our organization,” commented Silvertips general manager/head coach Dennis Williams. “He brings a good skill set with size and speed. We’re looking forward working with him and getting him acclimated with our team.”
Smith has played in two games this season, picking up an assist on Oct. 1 in Edmonton. His best performance of last season came on Jan. 29, when he recorded his first career hat trick and four total points against the Oil Kings.
He also scored his first career playoff goal in Game 4 of Lethbridge’s 2023 first-round matchup against the Moose Jaw Warriors.
