SIGNING: Silvertips sign Clarke Schaefer to Standard Player Agreement
EVERETT, Wash. — The Everett Silvertips have signed forward Clarke Schaefer [pr: SHAY-fer] to a Standard Player Agreement.
“I’m excited to be a part of the Silvertips,” said Schaefer. “I’m looking forward to joining an organization that produces great players with their development and coaching. I can’t wait to get things going. Also, Everett’s fans are electric!”

Schaefer, an ’07-born Spruce Grove, AB native, attended Silvertips Training Camp this past fall as a member of Everett’s protected list. He has been skating with the Northern Alberta Xtreme U17 squad this season, posting eight goals and 13 assists in 20 games played. Last season, he registered six goals and six assists in an injury-shortened 25-game campaign. He also participated in the 2022 Alberta Cup, finishing with a goal for Team Yellow in five games.
“We’re very happy to officially sign Clarke,” commented Silvertips general manager/head coach Dennis Williams. “He’s a tenacious player with strong instincts and a high compete level. He’s the kind of high-character, responsible 200-foot player that our organization likes. We look forward to welcoming him and his family to Everett.”
Schaefer noted his desire to follow in the footsteps of his father Jeremy, a forward in the WHL from 1992-97 with the Medicine Hat Tigers, Saskatoon Blades and Calgary Hitmen; as well as his brother Reid, currently a member of the Seattle Thunderbirds.
“Clarke has come a long way since last season after battling through an injury,” noted assistant general manager Mike Fraser. “He’s taken big strides since we added him to our protected list this past summer. He’s a gritty, two-way player that drives the net hard and sticks his nose in. His compete level and determination are very high. We’re excited to add Clarke and his style to our group moving forward.”
By signing a WHL Standard Player Agreement, Schaefer is guaranteed a WHL Scholarship for every year he plays in the WHL.
