Koen MacInnes named WHL Goaltender of the Week for second time this season
EVERETT, Wash. — Everett Silvertips netminder Koen MacInnes has been named the Western Hockey League’s Goaltender of the Week for the week ending Feb. 6.
MacInnes made one start this week, turning aside 24 shots against the Prince George Cougars on Feb. 5 for his third shutout of the season.
“Koen was very calm with a very focused demeanor for us on Saturday,” commented Silvertips head coach Dennis Williams. “He had good rebound control, he was challenging shooters, he was a real calming factor for our group. We’re very proud of him for this recognition.”
“[My comfort level in the crease] is sky high,” MacInnes said after the Tips’ 6-0 win on Saturday. “That’s the ideal game I guess, getting the shutout and the win.”
This is the second time this season that MacInnes has earned the honor, with the first time coming in the week ending Oct. 17. MacInnes is now 13-3-1 on the season with a 2.60 goals-against average and a .899 save percentage.
