Harper Becomes 16th Tips Alum to Make NHL Debut
EVERETT, Wash. – Forward Shane Harper, who is the Everett Silvertips all-time leader in games played (335), made his National Hockey League debut on Thursday with the Florida Panthers at the BB&T Center, in a 2-1 overtime victory over the visiting New Jersey Devils.
Harper, 27, recorded two shots on goal, three hits, and one takeaway in 9:09 of ice time, suiting up in jersey #38. The 5-foot-11, 193-pound forward is the 16th player, all-time to suit up for the Silvertips and skate in the NHL.
In his 335 career games as a Silvertip, the Valencia, Calif. native ranks in franchise history as third all-time in points (214), third in goals (100), and third in assists (114) while skating in Everett from 2005-10. Harper led the Silvertips with a career-high 80 points and 42 goals in 72 games during his final season in Everett, in 2009-10, when he was named WHL (West) Second Team All-Star.
Harper has amassed 404 career games across the NHL, AHL and ECHL levels, notching 233 points along with 30 playoff games and 21 points.
The Silvertips return to play tomorrow, visiting the Spokane Chiefs at 7:00 p.m. (1520 AM / WHL Live).
