AFTERMATH: 36 games, Now in 1st Place
EVERETT, Wash. – There has been a major turn of events in Everett for the Silvertips.
On October 27, the Tips were in last place in the U.S. Division and things were looking grim for our boys in green; the record prior to Halloween was 4-9-1. Let’s fast forward to Sunday, the last game of the first half of the season: the boys are now in first place in the U.S. Division and first place in the Western Conference with a stellar 17-4-0-1 record.
“It’s a good way to finish off the first half,” said Silvertips head coach Dennis Williams. “As a group we have come a long way, highs and lows throughout it, and we really liked how we finished it up.”
The first home game of the season was played against Portland and the Winterhawks cruised, 7-4 in downtown Everett. So, it’s incredibly poetic to see how far the team has come in just 2 months and to end the roller-coaster of a first half with throttling the Winterhawks, 8-3.
The Silvertips saw 13 different players on the scoresheet in Sunday’s win, including Fasko-Rudas’ first WHL career goal and Luke Ormsby’s first goal and assist as an Everett Silvertip. Bryce Kindopp scored two huge goals in the first half of the game to help the Tips cruise to a statement victory. Brandson Hein got his second of the year with a beauty of a breakaway. Typically we see a lot of top 6 production for the Tips but every line was rolling and contributing tonight, including the d-pairs as well.
“I’d say that’s us,” said Ormsby. “I came in at the perfect time and guys have really gotten it figured out. If you look at our run, that’s just the team we are and the team we are going to be and it’s going to scare a lot of people.”
“I think in the beginning of the season they weren’t really looking at us, but now we are starting to turn heads and they’re like ‘wow, Everett’. Definitely the second half we are going to start scaring some teams and do some special things.”
The boys have earned their holiday break.
They will come back on December 27, prepared to continue their surge.
