AFTERMATH / 3 Stars, Win #300 Explained
By Staci C. – Silvertips Staff Writer
The Silvertips took their 11th home win in 13 games to seize first place in the Western Conference. Among those who shined:
1. Carter Hart: The Silvertips goaltender has now gone 129:25 without
allowing a goal and continues to excel in net. Not only has Carter received
two shutouts in his past two games, but also he has frequently been in the
perfect positioning to make these saves to the point where it seems
effortless. He can read where a puck is going quite well and can keep his
composure even in the most high stress situations with opposing players
digging in the dirty areas and taking liberties with him. This was Hart’s 13
th career shutout. Hart gives a lot of credit to his teammates for their
defensive and offensive contributions and the preparation that goes into
playing a powerhouse team like Prince George.
2. Bryce Kindopp: Kindopp scored his second goal of his WHL career and
it was quite the play. Kindopp and Goethals managed to sneak past Prince
George’s defense and go 2-on-0 with Ty Edmonds, which led to Kindopp
wristing a beautiful shot past Edmonds. Although Kindopp has only three
career WHL points to date, he contributes in many ways, outside of the
score sheet and it was great to see him rewarded for his hard work this
evening.
3. Montana Onyebuchi: Montana had a big night this evening as he got
his first WHL career goal and dropped the gloves with Josh Anderson.
“It felt amazing,” Onyebuchi said. “Richie gave me a good pass and I got it
off quick, it stumbled in, it felt good.” Montana talked about how Noah
Juulsen has helped him during practice with shooting from the point and he
was pleased with the outcome this evening. In regards to the fight between
him and Anderson, there seems to be bad blood between the two, as they
fought in the previous meeting as well. Montana pointed out that Anderson
is a tough guy, but he felt the fight went well. Montana’s goal was his
fourth WHL point.
Honorable Star: Coach Kevin Constantine got his 300th win with the Silvertips
with the win over Prince George today. Constantine stated, “I’m thankful
and feel lucky but it’s not a big deal.”
