Royals return home for third matchup of the week against Giants
Victoria and Vancouver will wrap-up their three game mini-series on Friday at the SOFMC
The Victoria Royals will return to the Island this weekend to play their third straight matchup against their Mainland rivals, the Vancouver Giants.
The two sides played a pair of heated matchups at the Giants home rink in Langley earlier this week, with Vancouver earning a 3-2 win in the first leg before Victoria came away with a 3-0 shutout victory the following night.
Friday’s game should provide for some heated competition as it serves as the rubber match for the three-game mini-series.
Newly-acquired goaltender Braden Holt was an indispensable part of the Royals’ recent win, stopping all of the 35 shots he faced in his debut for the club in front of a hostile crowd at the Langley Events Centre on Wednesday.
The Bozeman, MT product will look to maintain that success as the Royals close out 2022 at home. He is expected to man the crease for the first time as the home goaltender at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre this Friday.
On the other side, Giants goaltender Jesper Vikman was equally impressive this week, holding Victoria’s offence to just four goals across two games, recording 34 saves on 36 shots in a 3-2 win on Tuesday and 26 saves on 28 shots in the 3-0 defeat the following night.
Victoria will be celebrating Trades Night, presented by Milestone Equipment Contracting, at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre on Friday.
Attendees are encouraged to bring their resumes to the rink as multiple networking opportunities will be available with some of the top trades companies on the Island prior to the game.
Milestone Equipment Contracting, Rental Zip, GETS Energy, Coastal Heat Pumps and the Vancouver Island Construction Association are just some of the companies that will be in attendance. There will also be a giveaway for a heated jacket from Milestone Equipment Contracting.
Additionally, all Lighthouse Brewing draught beer at the Lighthouse Craft Beer Corner will be on special for $5.75 each at the game. This includes local favourites such as Lighthouse Lager, Kapitan Czech Pilsner, Ghostship Hazy IPA, and Keeper’s Stout.
The game is set to begin at 7:05 pm on Friday, Dec. 30 at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre in downtown Victoria. Tickets are available at selectyourtickets.com.
