Victoria, BC- The Victoria Royals will welcome their BC Division rivals, the Kamloops Blazers, on Friday and Saturday night at Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre. Puck drop for both games is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
MILESTONE MAN: Defenceman Ryan Gagnon is nearing a franchise milestone, and has the opportunity to tie the mark on Saturday against Kamloops. Gagnon has played in 255 regular season games for Victoria (2012-17), and sits only two games away from tying Chilliwack Bruins alumni Jeff Einhorn for the most games played by a blueliner in franchise history at 257. Einhorn spent four seasons with the Bruins from 2007-2011 where he collected 30 points (8g-22a). Former Royal Brandon Magee holds the franchise mark for most games played with 318 (2010-15).
POTENT PENALTY KILL: Heading into this weekend’s match-up against the Kamloops Blazers, the Royals currently boast a perfect powerplay. After two games this season, Victoria sits tied for first in the WHL while shorthanded with a 9/9=100.0% mark. The club have now not allowed a goal on the penalty kill in their past four regular season games dating back to last season.
