Rockets Race Back to Dump Brandon 6-1
The Kelowna Rockets defeated the Brandon Wheat Kings 6-1 on Saturday night at Prospera Place in Kelowna in a match-up of the top two teams in the Western Hockey League.
Jackson Whistle stopped 31 of 32 Brandon shots in a first star performance, while Madison Bowey scored twice and Nick Merkley had a goal and three assists in the game.
After a scoreless first period, Brandon opened the scoring early in the second period but it was Kelowna who got their game going after the game’s opening goal.
The Rockets begin a stretch of three straight games on the road beginning next weekend with a pair of games in Portland next weekend as the Rockets will play Oct. 30 and Nov. 1 in Portland before playing in Vancouver Nov. 2.
Kelowna returns to Prospera Place Wednesday Nov. 5 to host the Victoria Royals.
