Rockets Line-up Set; Back Together Tonight
Kelowna Rockets gold medalists Madison Bowey and Josh Morrissey will return to the line up tonight as the Kelowna Rockets full squad is now back and ready to face the second half of the season.
Tonight will be the first game for Josh Morrissey who was acquired with Gage Quinney the night before Team Canada selection camp December 10.
Madison Bowey had a strong showing with Team Canada at the World Junior Championships in Montreal and Toronto, with three goals and three assists in his debut at the IIHF World Junior Championships.
Morrissey joins the Rockets after playing 27 games with the Prince Albert Raiders notching 21 points. Also making their Rockets debut this evening is newly acquired Chance Braid who the Rockets picked up yesterday morning from the Prince George Cougars. Braid, 20, has played in the WHL since 2011, playing a total of 236 games with 70 points, mostly with Prince Albert.
With the passing of the Jan. 10 WHL trade deadline, the Rockets roster is now set and tonight’s game will also mark the first time Leon Draisaitl will play with Morrissey as the two friends are re-united in Kelowna.
Draisaitl had a very strong debut on Wednesday night against the Vancouver Giants and has scored in both games as a Rocket, including the game winning goal against the Giants and the tying marker late Friday in Kamloops.
“I certainly didn’t play that well, it’s not easy, it’s my first game and I don’t know anyone here, and the chemistry isn’t that strong yet, I will be better for sure,” said Draisaitl on Wednesday.
There are standing room tickets still available for tonight’s game through Select Your Tickets.
