Rockets in a Romp Over Kamloops 11-4
The Kelowna Rockets defeated the Kamloops Blazers 11-4 on Wednesday night, winning all three games on its homestand and grabbing sole possession of 1st place overall in the WHL with the win.
Every Rocket except one hit the scoresheet in the game, a solid team effort in front of 5,261 fans at Prospera Place in Kelowna, which featured the first WHL goal from Rockets rookie Lucas Johansen.
Rourke Chartier scored twice to give him 46 goals on the season, tied for most goals in the WHL, while rookie Tomas Soustal and defenceman Josh Morrissey also scored twice for the Rockets, who improved to 45-9-3-1 on the season.
Riley Stadel, Chance Braid, Joe Gatenby and Devante Stephens also scored. Leon Draisaitl had three assists, while Nick Merkley, Tate Coughlin and Cole Linaker each had two assists.
The Rockets are now off to Victoria for a pair of games on the weekend and the start of three straight games between the two teams, who will play Friday and Saturday in Victoria and next Wednesday back at Prospera Place.
