Player of the Week
r The BOSTON PIZZA WHL Player of the Week is defencman Stefan Elliott of the Saskatoon Blades.

r Elliott picked up six points, scoring two goals and four assists to go with a +8 rating, in four games over the past week, helping the Blades post a 4-0 record in that span.

r On Tuesday, October 27th, the Medicine Hat Tigers travelled to Saskatoon to face the Blades. Elliott picked up three assists as the Blades went onto defeat the Tigers 7-2. On Friday, October 30th the Blades played hosted the Edmonton Oil Kings at the Credit Union Centre. Elliott acquired a +4 rating on the night as the Blades downed the Oil Kings 5-2. On Halloween night the Blades were in Moose Jaw to face the Warriors at the Civic Centre. Elliott netted two goals, including the game-winner, in Saskatoon’s 4-3 win over the Warriors; he was also named the games 3rd Star. The next evening, Sunday, November 1st, the Blades were in Swift Current to take on the Broncos. Elliott picked up one assist to helped lead the Blades to a 3-1 victory over the Broncos.

r Elliott’s six points over the last four games has him sitting 3rd among all WHL defenceman in scoring with 18 points (8 goals, 10 assists) in 18 games played. The Saskatoon Blades have won five straight games and currently hold top spot in the WHL East Division, Eastern Conference and entire WHL with a 13-3-0-2 record for 28 points.

r Elliott, an 18-year-old from Vancouver, British Columbia, is in his third full season with the Saskatoon Blades. He was named the 2008-09 WHL and Canadian Hockey League Scholastic Player of the Year and at the 2009 NHL Entry Draft was selected in the 2nd round – 49th overall by the Colorado Avalanche.

r The WHL has also nominated Garrett Zemlak of the Prince Albert Raiders for the CHL Goaltender of the Week Award. Zemlak posted a 2-0-0-0 record this past week with one shut-out, stopping 80 of 81 shots faced for a 0.500 goals-against average and a remarkable 0.988 save percentage. Zemlak, a native of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, has appeared in 14 games this season posting a 9-5-0-0 record with one shut-out and a 2.84 GAA.
