Dube added to Team WHL for Canada Russia Series Monday in Kelowna
Dillon Dube was on the Rockets bus heading for Portland when the 17-year-old second year player with the Rockets received some good news.
Dube was informed that he would be playing for Team WHL in Monday night’s opening game of the 2015 Canada-Russia Series to be held at Propsera Place.
Hockey Canada announced the line-up decision on Wednesday and Dube and the rest of his teammates were informed by head coach Brad Ralph on the team bus.
“It’s exciting, I didn’t expect it this year because of my age but it’s a big opportunity for me,” said Dube. “I want to try and prove that I can play with the older guys. It’s a big step for me and I’m going to enjoy it.”
In his second season with the Rockets, Dube is off to a great start, recording 10 goals and 23 points in just 14 games played.
A native of Cochrane, AB, Dube had 17 goals in 45 games last year as a WHL rookie.
Dube joins Nick Merkley on Team WHL, to be coached by Dave Lowry of the Victoria Royals, while fellow Rockets forward Rourke Chartier will be forced to miss the game with injury after he was initially named to the roster.
Tickets are still available for the game Monday at Prospera Place through www.selectyourtickets.com, at the Prospera Place box office or by phone at 250-762-5050.
