Athletic Therapist Jeff Thorburn Steps Down
The Kelowna Rockets Hockey Club of the Western Hockey League regretfully announce that Jeff Thorburn is stepping down from his position as the Rockets Athletic Therapist and Strength and Conditioning Coach.
Thorburn has been with the Rockets since the 20062007 WHL season and has become an integral part of the Rockets organization. A native of Dalhousie, New Brunswick, Thorburn has accepted a position as the Head Athletic Therapist with UBC Okanagan.
“This is a huge loss for our organization,” said Rockets President and General Manager Bruce Hamilton. “Jeff has worked hand-in-hand with our players and is very close to our doctors. It’s going to be very hard to replace him.”
During his time with the Rockets, Thorburn established himself as not only an important part of the Rockets staff but also as a well-respected member of the Canadian hockey community.
He worked at several different Hockey Canada events, including the World Junior Hockey Championships, the Subway Super Series and the CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game. He also trains several current and former Kelowna Rockets as well as other players at various levels of professional hockey.
“I have truly enjoyed my time and experiences with the Kelowna Rockets Hockey Club,” said Thorburn, 38. “It has been a tremendous group of people to work with and they have always treated me as part of the Rockets family. It certainly was a difficult decision for me to move on yet I am excited for the upcoming opportunity. I would like to sincerely thank Bruce Hamilton and all the members of the Rockets organization.”
