RECAP: Carmichael scores lone goal in 2-1 loss to Spokane
The Kelowna Rockets opened their three-game weekend with a 2-1 loss on Friday against the Spokane Chiefs at the Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena.
The last time these two played each other they exploded for 13 goals between the two, but Friday’s game was much quieter with all three goals scored in the second period.
GAME SUMMARY
After a scoreless first period, Ty Cheveldayoff (12) and Saige Weinstein (3) found the back of the Rockets net in a span of just over three minutes before the midway point of the second frame. Defenceman Elias Carmichael (2) from a shot at the left faceoff dot cut Spokane’s lead in half.
ADDITIONAL STATS
- Kelowna outshot Spokane 44 to 23
- Both teams were zero for three on the power play
- Dawson Cowan was the game’s first star, Saige Weinstein was the second and Ty Cheveldayoff was the third
- The Rockets record is now 9-11-2-0
- Jari Kykkanen made 21 saves on 23 shots, his record is now 4-6-2-0.
