The Kelowna Rockets will be back in action this weekend when they host a pair of American teams. The Rockets will host the league-leading Everett Silvertips at 7:05 pm on Friday and the Tri-City Americans at 7:05 on Saturday.
Kelowna was originally scheduled to open their homestand against the Vancouver Giants this past Wednesday, but the game was postponed due to the WHL COVID-19 Protocols impacting the Giants. A rescheduled date for the now two postponed games against Vancouver will be announced at a later date. Please save your tickets for home games #16 and #21, they will be valid for the new dates.
The Rockets were last in action over the weekend, where they went to the US and had a successful 2-1-0-0 run. Kelowna’s win streak grew to eight straight wins with a 4-1 win over Spokane Chiefs on Friday and a 6-1 victory against the Americans on Saturday. Their win streak then came to an end on Sunday, where the streaking Silvertips took down the Rockets 6-2.
Everett has been off since their Sunday game against the Rockets.
They’re currently ranked second in this weeks Kia CHL Top-10 Rankings for week 15.
Standing atop the WHL with 70 points in 44 games, the Everett Silvertips are winners of eight straight highlighted by a perfect three-in-three weekend that counts wins against Victoria, Prince George, and Kelowna. Among the top performers for the club over the weekend was 2002-born centre Ryan Hofer who notched a season high of four points in Sunday’s 6-2 win over the Rockets. Picking up a pair of tallies, Hofer is now one of four Silvertips skaters to score 20 or more times this season.
Tri-City opened their Canadian road trip with a 4-3 win over the BC Division-leading Kamloops Blazers on Wednesday night. They’ll take on the Blazers again on Friday night, before heading to Kelowna to face the Rockets.
ROSTER UPDATES
The Rockets will continue to be without right-winger Jake Poole (appendicitis).
