Pavel Novak invited to Czech Republic’s 2022 World Junior Selection Camp
Kelowna Rockets forward Pavel Novak has been named to the Czech Republic’s selection camp for the 2022 IIHF World Junior Championship.
Novak, selected in the fifth round (No. 146) by the Minnesota Wild in the 2020 NHL Draft, is among 25 players invited.
The 19-year-old leads Kelowna in points with 26 (11G, 15A) through 21 games, he’s also posted a +7 plus/minus rating and eight penalty minutes.
He represented the Czech Republic at the 2021 WJC, posting three points (1G, 2A).
The 2022 WJC is scheduled to be played Dec. 26-Jan. 5 at Rogers Place in Edmonton.
The Czech Republic will play in Group A during the preliminary round, starting against Canada on Dec. 26 followed by games against Germany (Dec. 27), Finland (Dec. 29) and Austria (Dec. 30). Group A consists of Canada, Finland, Germany, the Czech Republic and Austria.
