The Kelowna Rockets will be busy with two mid-week games, hosting the Lethbridge Hurricanes on Tuesday at Prospera Place, then hitting the road to face the Seattle Thunderbirds on Wednesday night at the accesso ShoWare Center.
The Rockets winless streak grew to nine games on Saturday when the WHL-leading Prince George Cougars came back from a 4-1 deficit to win 5-4 at Propsera Place.
With the loss, Kelowna matched their longest losing streak since the 2006-07 season where the Rockets went on a nine-game winless streak, dropping two of the games in overtime, from January 13 to February 2, 2007. Kelowna’s longest winless streak took place during the 1999-00 season when the team was winless in 12 consecutive games from Feb. 4, 2000 to Mar. 1, 2000.
Fan First Menu Game
It will be a Fan First Menu night with $2 hot dogs and $5 beer Lucky Lager. The Fan First Menu is available at all Monday to Wednesday regular season games.
The Hurricanes enter Tuesday second in the Central Division with a record of 12-8-2-0. Lethbridge kicked off their BC Division road trip on Friday with an 8-3 win over the Victoria Royals on the island, the next night they picked up a 4-3 win in overtime at the Langley Events Centre.
It’s the Hurricanes first visit to Kelowna since the 2019-20 season.
T-Birds Rivalry Renewed
The Rockets and T-Birds will face off for the first time since Seattle eliminated the Rockets in the opening round of the 2023 WHL Playoffs this past spring. Wednesday’s game will also be Tij Iginla’s first visit back to Kent and the first game against his former team since being traded to the Rockets in June.
Seattle faced off against the Everett Silvertips over the weekend in a home-and-home series where the two traded 4-1 wins. The Thunderbirds will hit the road to face the Tri-City Americans on Tuesday before hosting the Rockets on Wednesday night.
