TEAM BLUE WINS IN BCMML ALL STAR GAME
Team Blue tallied an 8-6 win over Team White in the 2014 BC Major Midget All Star Game. The game, featuring the best players of the British Columbia Major Midget League, was held at the George Preston Centre (Langley, BC) on Friday, January 17th.
Dexter Robinson opened the scoring for Team Blue midway through the opening frame, with assists from Surrey’s Matt Bradley and Langley’s Eric Callegari. Team White was quick to equalize however, with Powell River’s Hunter Findlater burying shortly after with assists going to Steven Jandric and Nicholas Ponak. Team Blue made it 3-1 before the end of the period, with goals from Tanner Campbell and Bradley.
Campbell and Bradley each added another in the second period, putting Team White in a hole down 5-1.
Team White responded however, scoring 3 unanswered goals – Dante Fabbro, Dante Hannoun and Colton Kerfoot – trimming the deficit to one.
With just under 5 minutes left in the second period, Team Blue pulled away yet again with goals coming from Kelowna’s Jake Kryski and Matt Bradley – his third of the game.
Down 3 going into the third period, Team White was unable to complete a comeback despite goals from Hannoun and Fabbro. Assists on Team White’s third period goals went to, Scott Munro, Coy Prevost, Findlater and Ponak.
Liam Finlay scored for Team Blue in the final period as well, with helpers awarded to Campbell and Kryski, giving Team Blue an 8-6 victory over Team White.

The All Star Game took place in conjunction with the Showcase Week that was held January 18-19, 2014 at various locations. Please refer to the Major Midget League website for more information.
Forty-two players (12 defensemen, 24 forwards and 6 goaltenders) were selected, with at least one (1) player representing each of the 11 Major Midget League teams. Players were selected for the All Star Game based on their on-ice and off-ice performances over the course of the current season.
Some notable Major Midget League graduates who have competed in the All Star Game include:

- Ryan Nugent-Hopkins of the Edmonton Oilers (Team White, 2009)
- Brett Connolly of the Tampa Bay Lighting (Team White, 2008)
- Evander Kane of the Winnipeg Jets (Team White, 2007)
The BC Hockey Major Midget League was established in 2004 to provide elite level 15, 16 and 17 year olds an opportunity to play within their own age group at a high level and be developed for the next level of hockey. These teams have an opportunity each year to compete for the National Midget Championship.
