WHL Players Surge in Draft Rankings

In Craig Buttons most recent 2019 NHL Draft ranking three WHL players cracked the top eight. Lethbridge Hurricanes forward Dylan Cozens comes in at #4. Cozens has 41 points through 30 games this season on a Lethbridge team that recently made 2 big acquisitions from the Regina Pats as they prepare to make a run at the Memorial Cup. Kirby Dach follows Cozens at #5 overall. The Saskatoon Blades forward has 42 points through 33 games this season on dangerous Saskatoon Blades team. Rounding out the group is Vancouver Giants defenseman Bowen Byram. Byram has 25 points in 29 games and is just 2 points off his points totals from last year.

Not making the top eight but certainly in the mix are the former #1 overall pick in the WHL bantam draft and recently named captain of the Kootenay Ice Peyton Krebs. Other potential first round picks include Kelowna Rockets forward Nolan Foote, Edmonton Oil Kings defenseman Matthew Robertson and Josh Williams from the Medicine Hat Tigers.
