Mirwald commits to Warriors
Moose Jaw Warriors General Manager Alan Millar has announced that 15-year-old goaltender Brett Mirwald has committed to the Warriors and the WHL with the signing of a Standard Player Agreement.
“We are very pleased that Brett and his family have committed to the Warriors and the Western Hockey League for both his hockey and academic goals,” said Millar.
“Brett plays a smart, solid game, and competes hard in the net. He is having an excellent rookie season with the Saskatoon Blazers in the Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League,” he added.
Mirwald was selected by the Warriors in the 7th round, 154th overall, at the 2018 WHL Bantam Draft. Playing bantam last season with the Saskatoon Outlaws, he had a 14-3 record with a 2.46gaa and two shutouts.
This season Mirwald is playing with the Saskatoon Blazers in the SMAAAHL and in 17 appearances he’s posted a record of 14-2 with a 2.11gaa, .910sv%, and three shutouts. Mirwald ranks 2nd in the league in wins and is 3rd in GAA among goalies with 15+ appearances.
