Medicine Hat Hockey Hounds Host 45th Major Bantam Tournament
For the 45th straight year, the Medicine Hat Hockey Hounds will be hosting one of the biggest Bantam AAA tournaments in Western Canada.
The annual Hockey Hounds Major Bantam Hockey Tournament will take place from Nov. 16-19 at a few local rinks around the city. 15 out of province teams will gather in Medicine Hat and and be hosted by one local team, the South East Athletic Club Tigers. Teams will be present from all over Western Canada including Alberta, Saskatchewan, and British Columbia.
Teams will be split into four divisions. Teams in the B division include Prince Albert, Lloydminster, SEAC, and Pursuit of Excellence. In division G, teams will face off against West Central, St Georges School, Fort Saskatchewan, and Edmonton KC. The R division will showcase Grand Peace, Calgary Edge, Balgonie, and Sherwood Park. Finally, the W division will host Swift Current, Delta Academy, Edmonton SSAC, and Spruce Grove.
In 2016, Pursuit of Excellence claimed the Hockey Hounds title and will be looking this year for a championship repeat. Games get underway at 5 pm Thursday night with Swift Current taking on Delta Academy and Grand Peace going head to head with Calgary Edge. The tournament Gold Medal Game will be held Sunday afternoon at 12:30 pm at the Medicine Hat Kinplex arena.
