Brodie Hankel signs WHL Scholarship & Development Agreement with Portland
Portland, Ore. – The Portland Winterhawks Hockey Club is proud to announce the signing of forward Brodie Hankel to a WHL Scholarship & Development Agreement. Hankel signs after playing in all five of Portland’s preseason games earlier this month.
“Brodie came into training camp on a tryout and earned the opportunity to start the season with our team,” said President and General Manager Mike Johnston. “We are excited to have him as part of our organization.”
Hankel, 18, split the 2023-24 season between the Leduc Oil Kings U18 AAA of the AEHL U18 and Olds Grizzly in the AJHL. The product of Devon, Alta. tallied 22 points (8G, 13A) in 41 games between the two clubs.
Prior to the 2023-24 campaign, the 6-foot-2, 183-pound winger skated with the Oil Kings U15, U16, and U18 programs.
