Cyr Named CIS Goaltender of the Year.
Prince George Cougars alumni goaltender Real Cyr (Victoire, SK) has been named CIS Goaltender of the Year. The University of Alberta Golden Bears goaltender back-stopped his team to a 20-6-2 record this season, and posted a record of 13-4 record with a goals against average of 1.59 and a save percentage of .935. Through four seasons, Cyr has posted 36 career victories and four shutouts for the Golden Bears.
Cyr spent his entire four-year WHL career in Prince George, dressing in 141 career regular season games along with 12 playoff games. Cyr posted 54 career WHL victories – 14 of which were shutouts. Perhaps Cyr’s most memorable accomplishment came during the 2006-2007 post-season where he led the Cougars to the Western Conference Final. That season, Cyr posted eight victories and finished the post-season with a 3.01 goals against average and a save percentage of .905.
