Cougars Take Another Step Towards 2013 Memorial Cup Bid
The Prince George Cougars, and the 2013 Mastercard Memorial Cup Bid Committee for Prince George, have submitted the Site
Selection Evaluation Criteria on May 30th, 2011.
We are pleased to say that we feel very positive about our submission where we were able to provide strong answers for most of this
process … the exception being in our season ticket attendance numbers.
The WHL has established a Bid Evaluation Committee, consisting of a Western-based NHL Scout, a national event management
specialist with Olympic and Canada Games experience, and CHL and WHL Management with extensive CHL Special Events experience.
Currently there are ï¬ve (5) teams in the race, and the WHL is looking to trim this down to three (3), or four (4). The WHL will release
the ï¬nalists on June 15th.
If Prince George makes it into this ï¬nal round the next phase is to establish a full detailed bid and make an in-person appearance to
the WHL Board of Governors on Wednesday, October 12, 2011 in Calgary. The WHL Board of Governors will vote later that day to
determine the site and the announcement of the WHL host site for the 2013 Mastercard Memorial Cup will be made the next day,
Thursday, October 13, 2011.
