Cougars Encourage Youth to Jump on Board
PRINCE GEORGE, BC– The Prince George Cougars have partnered with The Native Courtworker & Counselling Association of BC to support youth in the community of Prince George who have encountered employment barriers.
Also joining the initiative are Kopar Employment Services, Crisis Line of PG, and Jump on Board-Youth Employment Services.
The program is designed to reach youth’s by dispersing packages that contain business cards from Employment agencies, plus providing two tickets and food vouchers to attend a Cougars hockey game.
The project will also attempt to assist in opening doors to youth services and to ensure youth know about the services of the Native Courtworker & Counselling Association.
As youth unemployment is at its highest right now, a healthy youth must be able to access employment to reduce their contact with the Criminal Justice System.
“NCCA would also like to thank the Prince George Cougars and Management for their generosity and support for the donation of the hockey tickets and food vouchers. This project would not be possible without them. It does take a community to raise a child, and we see this in the ongoing support of the Prince George Cougars”, says Patricia Jackson, Youth & Family Advocate for NCCA.
“We are proud to once again partner with the Native Courtworker & Counselling Association of BC. This is a great initiative and we strongly support it”, says Cougars Business Manager Brandi Brodsky.
