PRINCE GEORGE, BC – Despite another third-period rally, the Prince George Cougars dropped their seventh consecutive game, falling to the Kamloops Blazers 4-3 in overtime, Saturday at the CN Centre.
The Cougars were awarded a pair of power plays in the opening five minutes, however, Dylan Ernst was able to shut the door on multiple chances to keep the game scoreless. The Blazers got the icebreaker with Daylan Kuefler jamming one in past Tyler Brennan to make it 1-0 Kamloops after the opening period.
In the second, Ethan Samson triggered the Teddy Bears and Toques with a power-play goal to get the game tied at one. Both teams traded chances in the period and both goaltenders stood their ground to keep the game deadlocked after 40 minutes.
The Blazers jumped ahead in the third with two quick goals coming from Daylan Kuefler and a power-play goal from Fraser Minten to make it 3-1. The Cougars then responded with two quick ones of their own, courtesy of Hudson Thornton and Jaxsen Wiebe. Wiebe’s goal was his first as a Prince George Cougar.
In the extra frame, Logan Bairos potted home the game-winner on a second-chance opportunity to give the Blazers back-to-back overtime wins against the Cougars.
