Brennan and Young Selected on Final Day of NHL Draft in Montreal

Prince George BC – The Prince George Cougars are excited to announce that both goaltenders Tyler Brennan (102nd, New Jersey Devils) and Ty Young (144th, Vancouver Canucks) were drafted on the second and final day of the 2022 NHL Draft in Montreal. Brennan and Young are the first WHL goaltending tandem selected in the same NHL draft since Jomar Cruz (Washington) and Jamie Hodson (Toronto) of the Brandon Wheat Kings in 1998.
Brennan, 18, from Winnipeg, MB, suited up in 39 games for the Cougars this season, posting a 11-25-2 record, with a 3.58 goals against average and a .899 save percentage. The 6’4 goaltender was also terrific this past post-season, finishing with a 1.86 goals against average and a .954 save percentage in four games. Brennan will be heading to the Canadian World Junior Summer Selection Camp in Calgary at the end of the month before heading back to Prince George for the upcoming 2022-23 season.

Young, 17, from Lethbridge, AB appeared in 23 games in the 2021-22 campaign with the Cats, finishing with a 6-9-3 record, 3.50 goals against average, and a .899 save percentage. The promising young netminder also appeared in one playoff game in his full rookie season in the Western Hockey League.
