Chiefs can’t break Kamloops curse, fall 7-1 at home
Spokane, Wash. — The Spokane Chiefs couldn’t keep up with the Kamloops Blazers Saturday night as they dropped their fifth-straight, 7-1.
Just like Friday’s match-up, Kamloops got off to a hot start by scoring four unanswered goals in the first period, starting at 2:07 with Kyle Masters. The Blazers added two power play goals by Kaden Hammell (7:57) and Logan Stankoven (10:47) before Daylan Kuefler scored their fourth with just 41 seconds left in the frame.
The second period remained in Kamloops’ favor as Kuefler netted a power play goal of his own at 14:16, followed by Fraser Minten’s third of the season less than two minutes later. Rookie netminder Cooper Michaluk replaced Spokane starter Mason Beaupit after the sixth goal and finished the game.
Stankoven scored his second of the night at 8:19 in the third period before the Chiefs finally found the twine at 8:59 on a power play goal from Grady Lane. Jake Gudelj and Tommaso De Luca earned assists on the play, which capped the scoring for the night at 7-1.

The Chiefs went 1-for-6 on the power play and 1-for-4 on the penalty kill. They were outshot 41-16.
Beaupit started in net for Spokane and stopped 22-of-28 shots before being relieved by Michaluk, who turned aside all but one of 13 shots faced.
Up next, the Chiefs will take on the Prince George Cougars back-to-back nights next weekend at Spokane Arena.
