THREE GOAL THIRD LIFTS CHIEFS TO 3-1 WIN IN TRI CITIES
The Spokane Chiefs began a three games in three nights weekend with a 3-1 win over the Tri City Americans Friday night in Kennewick. A three goal third period lifted Spokane to their second straight win over the Americans in a week.
Tri City’s Brian Williams scored at 7:19 of the first period to give the Americans a 1-0 lead after one. Tri outshot Spokane 13-7 in the first. Neither team scored in the second as the Chiefs outshot the Ams 8-7. Spokane had 4 power plays in the second, while Tri City had two, but neither team converted on the man advantage.
Collin Valcourt’s 12th goal of the season jumpstarted the Chiefs in the third as he tallied from Connor Chartier at 5:08 of the third. Brenden Kichton would give Spokane a 2-1 lead on a power play goal at 10:56 from Todd Fiddler. Dominick Uher would seal the win with a shorthanded goal at 17:20 to give Spokane their first win in Tri Cities in four tries.
Spokane returns home to play back to back home games against the Portland Winterhawks Saturday and Sunday at the Spokane Arena. Mike Boyle will have the call Saturday on 790 KJRB beginning with the pre-game show at 6:30pm.
