Vancouver with a giant third period, Chiefs fall 6-3
Vancouver, B.C. – The Chiefs hit the road for a rare matinee game in Vancouver on Monday afternoon, playing the Giants for the first time since early December.
Cameron Schmidt would start the game with a bang, scoring just 31 seconds in for Vancouver.
Berkly Catton and Conner Roulette would combine for a tying goal at the 5:01 mark.

With that goal Catton becomes the 32nd Chiefs player all-time to score 40 goals in a season. He is the third 17-year-old to notch 40 goals in a season and is third all-time in scoring for 17-year-olds in Chiefs history.
Chase Bertholet was next on the scoresheet with an excellent backhand finish.

Bertholet took the simple pass from McIsaac and did the rest himself, driving from the red line all the way to the net before clipping it into the roof of the goal.
Hoilett would add a second for the Giants and the frame would close at two goals each.
The Chiefs dominated much of the second period, leading the shot count 13-4. Neither team would manage a breakthrough and it would head to three all tied up.
Vancouver started the third with a vengeance, peppering the goal before finally finding a breakthrough four minutes into the period thanks to a goal from Levis.
The highlight of the period for Spokane was a monster hit from youngster Nathan Mayes, planting Hoilett at the blue line.

Vancouver would score their 4th a few minutes later thanks to Hammett, and add an empty netter with just under two minutes to play from Zimmer.
Spokane would not go away quietly as Schoettler drove the right wing and centered the puck. Carter Streek ricocheted the puck into the net and it was back to a two-goal game.
Vancouver answered with another empty net goal, this time from Lipinski, wrapping the game up at 6-3.
After allowing just four shots on goal in the second, Spokane gave up 20 in the third. Overall Spokane recorded 40 shots to Vancouver’s 36. Both teams were blanked on the power play with Spokane failing to score in four attempts. Dawson Cowan recorded 30 saves on the night.
Up next Spokane will play in Wenatchee tomorrow night before returning home for two games this weekend. Friday is the Shriners Children’s Spokane School Night and Boomer Pillowcase Giveaway for the first 1,000 kids 12 and under. Saturday is the Winterbrewbash from 3-5 PM (tickets here) following by the Inland Imaging Chiefs Fight Cancer game versus Moose Jaw.
