Chiefs Sign Forward Owen MacNeil to WHL Agreement
SPOKANE, Wash. – The Spokane Chiefs announced today that forward Owen MacNeil has signed a WHL Standard Player Agreement and committed to playing in the Western Hockey League. MacNeil was the Chiefs’ second round (39th overall) pick in the 2018 WHL Bantam Draft.
“Owen is a well-rounded player,” said Chiefs’ Assistant General Manager Chris Moulton. “He has the skills and abilities to create offense and make those around him better but still plays well away from the puck. His hockey sense allows him to play in any situation. He also brings leadership and character to our up-and-coming group of players.”
A 2003-born winger from Calgary, MacNeil was the Chiefs’ second round selection May’s bantam draft. Standing 5-foot-11 and 161 pounds, he split time last year between the Calgary Royals Bantam AAA (AMBHL) and CRAA Blue Minor Midget AAA (AMMHL), totaling 16 goals and 24 assists in 40 games.
MacNeil adds to the organization’s depth at forward but as a 2003-born player, will not be eligible to play with the Chiefs full-time this season.
