Chiefs sign 3rd-round 2023 WHL Prospects pick F Cohen Harris
Spokane, Wash. — The Spokane Chiefs are proud to announce that forward prospect Cohen Harris has signed a WHL Scholarship and Development Agreement. Harris was selected in the third round (47th overall) of May’s WHL Prospects Draft.
“We are excited that Cohen and his family have decided that Spokane is the place for him to continue his development,” Chiefs General Manager Matt Bardsley said. “He is an exciting player who is quick and plays with excellent pace. His ability to play with top-end players and consistently produce offensively will be a great addition to our team. We would like to welcome Cohen and his family to the Chiefs organization.”
Harris, a 5-foot-7 forward from Humboldt, Saskatchewan, played 30 games during the 2022-23 season with the Humboldt Broncos U15 AA squad where he piled up 79 points on 38 goals and 41 assists and finishing fourth in scoring in the SAAHL. He tacked on another 25 points (8G-17A) over just nine playoff games as the Broncos were named SAAHL Champions and Hockey Saskatchewan U15AA Provincial Champions for the season.
“I’m very excited to have an opportunity to be part of the Spokane Chiefs,” Harris said. “I’ve heard nothing but great things about the city, team, coaches and billet families. Can’t wait to get started. Go Chiefs!”
He joins recently signed 2023 draft class prospects F Brody Gillespie (1st-overall, U.S. Priority Draft), F Mathis Preston (3rd-overall, WHL Prospects Draft), G Carter Esler (22nd-overall, WHL Prospects Draft) and D Kaden Allan (24th-overall, WHL Prospects Draft).
The 2008-born Harris is first eligible to join the Chiefs as a full-time player during the 2024-25 season and can play up to five games as an Affiliated Player in 2023-24.
