Chiefs give up season-high 11 goals in loss to ‘Tips
Spokane, Wash. – The Chiefs played on home ice for the first time in 20 days on Friday night against the Everett Silvertips. It was the first Chiefs home game in 20 days after seven consecutive road contests and the first game versus Everett since late October. It was a busy day off the ice with the Fred Meyer Wall Calendar Giveaway to the first 3,000 fans in the building, Pride Night, and Gonzaga Night all wrapped into one.
Everett jumped out to a 3-goal lead in the first period with Roest scoring his 22nd of the season. He would later assist on Ben Hemmerling’s 18th before Carter Bear netted for the 17th time this season. Heslop and Patton added assists on their third goal.
Unfortunately for the Chiefs, the second period would not improve the score line. the ‘Tips would score an additional six goals in frame two thanks to Bear, Hemmerling, Miettinen, Rymon, Berge, and Brown.
Cooper Michaluk entered the game in relief of Dawson Cowan midway through period two.
The Chiefs’ lone bright spot of the night came at 8:52 of the third with point-leader Berkly Catton sniping his 28th of the season, on the power play. Brayden Crampton and Conner Roulette provided the assists on the play.
