Spokane Chiefs deliver 6,825 Teddy Bears to families in need
Spokane, Wash. – On Monday, December 5th, Spokane Chiefs players and staff delivered 6,825 Teddy Bears to the Christmas Bureau at the Spokane Fairgrounds. The 2022 Teddy Bear Toss presented by TDS Fiber took place on Saturday, December 3rd vs the Lethbridge Hurricanes at the Spokane Arena. Shortly into the 2nd Period, the Chiefs nearly scored, prompting the eager fans to start throwing their bears onto the ice. Volunteers from the Boy Scouts, local high schools, Chiefs players, section leaders, and staff all worked together to load the bears into trucks provided by Corwin Ford and TDS Fiber. They were then removed from the ice, counted, and prepared for delivery to take place.
The Christmas Bureau is an annual holiday program coordinated by Catholic Charities, Volunteers of America, and the Spokesman-Review. The money, toys, and books donated to the Bureau each year provide opportunities for people in the Inland Northwest to help their less fortunate neighbors. It is a massive endeavor each year, with the goal of making the holiday season a little brighter for those in need. Chiefs players had the unique opportunity to tour the Christmas Bureau and hear from Heidi Meany of Catholic Charities on this special holiday tradition.
