Oshawa outlasts Huron-Perth in one-goal affair
Ethan Macleish scored the deciding goal late in the second period as the Oshawa Generals eked out a 2-1 victory over the Huron-Perth Lakers Monday night.
Macleish’s game-winner came at the 12:42 mark of the second period on a wicked snap shot that came off a centering pass from Joey Longo. Macleish went glove-side past Lakers goaltender Edmund Docherty.
Oshawa’s first goal came near the end of the first period when Ty Harnum wired a shot blocker-side to open the scoring for the Generals.
A very physical third period saw both teams have multiple chances to score and the Lakers managed to find the back of the net and breakthrough the Oshawa defence when Will Johnson netted a goal whilst killing a penalty. Johnson was able to dislodge the puck from an Oshawa attacker and go down on a breakaway and fire it past Generals goaltender Chase Petrova.
Petrova stopped 13-of-14 for the win as Oshawa rebounded from a Monday morning overtime loss to North York.
Both teams will be back in action tomorrow when Oshawa takes on the Upper Canada Cyclones at 3:15pm and Huron-Perth faces off against the same Cyclones at 8:00am.
