Jr. Canadiens wrap-up perfect Round Robin with lopsided win
The Toronto Jr. Canadiens wrapped up a perfect Round Robin, blanking the Sun County Panthers 9-0 in their fourth straight win. JRC will be the only team to close-out the Round Robin with a 4-0 record.
Toronto’s goals came on 25 shots as Jake O’Brien (3, 4), Wyatt Jinman (1), Michael Lavigne (1), Luka Graziano (3) and Chase Yanni (2) each found the back of the net on top of a hat trick from Luca Morano (3, 4, 5).
Nico Armellin defended the crease, making 12 saves for the shutout.
O’Brien spoke on JRC’s performance saying, “The win was well-deserved. It feels great to clinch the division, we came here knowing that we had to step it up and play our best.”
“We need to come out ready to win tomorrow and outwork our opponent. We plan to get pucks in deep and shots on net.”
JRC’s Michael Lavigne earned BARDOWN Player of the Game honours following his two point performance, while Joe Gingras was Sun County’s MVP.
The Jr. Canadiens will suit up in Quarter-Final action, taking on the second place finisher of the Subban Division on Saturday at 10:30am. Sun County finishes the OHL Cup with a record of 1-2-1, being led in scoring by Matteo Vilardi with two goals and two assists.
