Flyers fight to first victory over previously undefeated Waterloo
Bouncing back from yesterday’s loss, the Don Mills Flyers overcame the previously undefeated Waterloo Wolves in a high-intensity battle to earn their first win at the 2023 OHL Cup.
Sam Black (2) found the back of the net early for the Wolves, but the Flyers would respond quickly with goals from Max Anderson (1) and Aiden Shourideh (1).
The action continued as Black (3) and Brady Martin (3) put the Wolves ahead, but it wouldn’t be long until Anderson (2) and Kyle Butt (1) would tie the game 4-4 early in the third.
With less than two minutes left in regulation, Shamar Moses (2) fired one to the back of the net as the Flyers earned the win, improving to 1-2.
The 6-foot-3, 210lb. Moses commented on his team’s performance saying, “The boys were coming back from a tough loss last night. It was a close game and we all battled our hardest. Our coaches laid out a good game plan for us and everyone put in the work.”
Anderson’s two goals earned BARDOWN Player of the Game honours for the Flyers as Waterloo’s Sam Black was also awarded recognition.
Don Mills looks to build off the momentum at 5:45, taking on the OMHA champion Peterborough Petes while Waterloo prepares to face Peterborough on Friday at 8:30am.
