Owen Tippett (1, 2, 3) promptly netted a hat-trick in his return from the Florida Panthers, helping his team get in the win column as the Mississauga Steelheads defeated visiting Erie 6-1. Tippett was a force, scoring three times in the first 26 minutes of action while finishing the night with seven shots on goal. James Hardie (2), William Portokalis (1) and Cole Carter (2) added Mississauga goals while blueliner Ryan Wells finished with three assists. While Tippett starred in his return, teammate Ryan McLeod had an assist and three shots on goal in his return from the Edmonton Oilers. Kyle Maksimovich (4) spoiled Jacob Ingham’s shutout bid 7:40 into the third period. Mississauga outshot Erie 37-29, improving to 1-1-1-0 out of the gate. Otters netminder Noah Battaglia made 31 saves in his OHL debut.
