Owen Sound continues winning ways
The Owen Sound Attack turned things around following an eight-game losing slide with six straight victories, including four in the last week. Cedrick Guindon scored four goals including the overtime winner in Friday’s 4-3 win over Guelph while Nick Chenard backstopped the Attack to a shutout victory on Saturday, posting 27 saves for the win over Saginaw.

A Battalion birthday win
Mitchell Russell celebrated his 21st birthday with a pair of goals on Sunday as the Battalion clinched their third-straight win, while Matvey Petrov and Ty Nelson both had a pair of assists in front of a 28-save performance from Joe Vrbetic . North Bay now sits just two points back of first place Mississauga in the Central Division.

Petes fight for playoff spot
The Peterborough Petes continued to fight for a playoff position, grabbing six points in a three-in three as Michael Simpson was a difference-maker, defending the crease in all three games. The Petes had no trouble scoring as Tucker Robertson had a hat-trick in Niagara on Friday while Philadelphia Flyers prospect J.R. Avon lit the lamp four times in Saturday’s 6-2 win over Oshawa.

Firebirds set franchise season record with 21 road wins
The Flint Firebirds set a new franchise record with their 21st road win as Winnipeg Jets prospect Dmitry Kuzmin scored twice on Sunday. Ethan Keppen who played in his 200th OHL game on Friday, had a goal and an assist while Luke Cavallin stopped 31 of 32 to defeat the Storm. The Firebirds are perched atop the Western Conference with a 33-16-1-3 record.

Barrie’s perfect weekend
Evan Vierling, Beau Jelsma and Declan McDonnell all scored twice as the Colts wrapped up a perfect weekend with an eight-goal output in Sudbury on Sunday. Mack Guzda won his 80th OHL game, making 31 saves as the Colts third straight win pushes them to 26-18-4-0, good for fifth in the Eastern Conference. A New York Rangers prospect, Vierling has been red hot since returning to the Colts lineup in mid-February, posting points in 10 of his last 11 games.

IceDogs’ Rosenzweig shuts down Steelheads
Josh Rosenzweig stopped all 31 shots he faced for his second shutout of the season as the IceDogs blanked the Central-leading Mississauga Steelheads on Sunday. Declan Waddick, Brice Cooke, Juan Copeland and Brenden Sirizzotti provided Niagara’s goals as the IceDogs improve to 15-31-2-1.

Hill helps the Sting
Tied 5-5 midway through the third period, the Sting scored five times in the final 7:17 of regulation to put up double digits against Saginaw on Wednesday night. Theo Hill came one assist shy of a Sting franchise record, picking up six helpers as Zach Filak recorded his first career OHL hat trick, picking up three goals and an assist for Sarnia. The Sting sit at fourth place in the West Division.

Bulldogs secure their ninth-straight win
Avery Hayes scored the third period shorthanded game winner in a battle of Eastern Conference heavyweights against Mississauga on Thursday as they continued their winnings against Ottawa on Friday’s TSN aired game as Montreal Canadiens prospect Arber Xhekaj scored the shootout winner while Marco Costantini made 24 saves before stopping three of four to secure Hamilton’s ninth straight win. The Bulldogs take sole possession of first place in the OHL, improving to 33-11-2-2, having won 15 of their last 16.

Steelheads blueliners rack up the points
Mississauga defeated Oshawa 8-4 on Friday night as 2022 NHL Draft prospect Luca Del Bel Belluz bagged his second hat trick of the season, doing so before the midway point of regulation. Defenders Kasper Larsen and Chas Sharpe each had a goal and four assists, making them the second and third OHL defencemen to have a five-point game this season, joining Ottawa’s Jack Matier. The five points by a defender set a new Steelheads single game franchise record. The Steelheads sit atop the Central division recording 32 wins this season.

Spits surge in standings
The Windsor Spitfires scored two third period goals to come back from behind and defeat the London Knights on Sunday as Pasquale Zito and Matthew Maggio put the Spits ahead for good on home ice. Luke Evangelista scored his League-leading 43rd goal of the season, but Matt Onuska stopped 39 of 43 against his former club to earn the win. Windsor’s third win in the last four pushes the Spits ahead of Sault Ste. Marie in the Western Conference standings as they sit third with a 29-14-3-3 record.
