Oshawa, Ont. – The Oshawa Generals organization is extremely excited to announce 9th round selection, Vasily Serov, has committed to the Generals.
Serov, selected 167th overall at the 2023 OHL Priority Selection, is the fifth player from this draft class to commit. He joins 2007-born Owen Griffin, Isaac Gravelle, Tristan Delisle, and Shawn Costello.
Serov is the first 9th-round selection to commit to the Generals since alumni Mathieu Franche suited up in the 2018-2019 season.
The Moscow, Russia., native spent the 2022-2023 season with the Vaughan Kings of the GTHL. In 51 games, the 6.3″ tall, 207-pound forward scored 20 goals and 14 assists for 34 points.
At the 2023 OHL Cup, Serov and his Vaughan Kings made it all the way to the championship game. In seven games, Serov scored two goals and two assists for the Kings. Ultimately the Kings would lose 3-0 to the Toronto Jr. Canadiens in the final.
He also impressed GensNation during his first opportunity on Tribute Communities Centre ice. Serov wasted little time, scoring his first goal of camp in the first period of the first scrimmage.
